Yellow-billed Cuckoo Coccyzus americanus

Paw-Paw Asimina triloba

Zebra Swallowtail     Protographium marcellus

Stealthy and sleek, the Yellow-billed Cuckoo is stalk still, hidden behind large leaves. Paw-paw, a small tree in the understory, is a perfect lookout for a delicious meal on wing. In comes the Zebra Swallowtail, who can’t resist the leafy lure of the paw-paw; the only thing her babies can eat. Crunch!
